Damn, Ray
So, you want to paint your car yourself? I'd leave it to the professionals. If you want a good job, there is way too much involved to start doing it yourself. I was planning on painting my new JDM parts myself, but decided to leave it to the professionals. I'm doing the fitting and prep work myself, but not the paint. Besides, by the time I buy all the primer, paint, rent a spray gun, etc., it would cost me almost as much to have a professional do it.
I like the idea of a matte or flat finish though. I've wondered what a matte or flat black Galant would look like.
I like these:
ZIGONATOR
I want to paint mine. I will have 6 bumpers that needs paint and some side skirts and f flares. if I fail. I will buy lots and lots of stickers from pepboys to cover it up.
^ Omfg! I can't wait to see!
oh dman.. i would love to see that raz

Well I haven't seen it on a Galant yet and being a Douche and ass that I am, I figured I'd try it..
Im waiting for all this new equipment to come in and I'll try it.
Cool thanks for the advice, any of you guys wanna fly over to ireland and paint my shit for me?
I hate you Ray. I was gonna paint my car flat titanium gray. the only thing that has my a little worried is if it gets scratched, you cant "polish" it out, because polishing leaves it shiny.
Are you using regular urethane paint and adding a flattening agent to the clear coat or are you using specialty flat paint? I have see it done both ways, and both looked pretty nice.

You do everything the same, just don't add clear or you could use something like ppg2060 a flat clear but you wont have a complete flat look, it will be a little shiny. A technique used on old muscle cars that customers want that flat look. People think that if you don't add clear that the base coat will change colors and fade but it will last that way for years if you do it right.
ahhh, i cant wait to see that ray.
