    New Engine Help

Alright I was just wondering is there any to take my 350 5.7 V8 Auto engine from my 1989 Camaro IROC-Z and put it in my 2003 G I4. Is it even possible, what all would i need such as a new tranmission, convert the g to rear wheel dirve or anything like that.

wow... talk about fab work... u would need everything.. engine , trans, convert to rear wheel drive... cut a tunnel for the drive shaft, make a custom drive shaft to fit... and the list goes on and on... whould probally be eaiser to do a evo swap and trying to do the awd route... both take alot of knowledge and alot of money

im pretty sure you can fit it in the back seat. you might want to put some plastic down for easy cleanup.

It would fit in there if that's what you mean but it will require for you to redesign the entire chassis and a bunch of other things. If a guy can stick a LS2 in a Datsun, you can in a Galant. You will need cash, and people that can Fab.

The reason i ask is because i let my uncle borrow my car and then he gets in a wreck. totals the car and just about the only thing salvagable is the engine, tranny, drive shaft, and rear axel. he owns a shop and said he would do the labor for free. but that would be one badazz galant tho.

Said Datsun was already RWD from the factory. 1000000 billion times easier dropping a V8 in a RWD car vs converting a FWD car to RWD and dropping in a foreign motor.

It wouldnt bolt up for obvious reasons. You would have better luck dropping the motor in sideways and mating it to the FWD trans then to make it RWD haha.

If your wanting a direct swap without any modifications, check out the new jet engine conversion kits they sell on eBay.

Best part is, you can keep your fwd engine and just add the jet engine! Just have to cut a small hole out of the trunk and this sucker bolts right in!

if you are looking for directions or someone to hold your hand in the process you're not gonna find it here. i think if the work is being done at your uncle's shop, you should be asking the people there since this would be something custom.

I never said it was easy but doable for sure. Making a Galant rear wheel drive is easier then people think. It will take time, money and brains.

Go for it, and keep us posted on the process from start to finish, but not until you get rid of those chrome wipers.

anyone know of any other engines that could be easily dropped into an 8g with out all the fab work?

  15. #15
Yeah, another 8G engine. There really aren't any engines you can just drop in and would work. You can swap the Evo engine but there is a lot involved in that. You can turbo your engine, but like the Evo swap, lots of work is required. These Mitsu's aren't like Honda and Acura's where you can pretty much just drop in a different engine and it works.

Give it a try ;) If the guys over there are good customizing they can pretty much do anything.
U can use the exaust channel but then u have to direct the exaust out on the side. The height of the G most probarly be higher aswell.
