man and I thought i was the only one.. well i feel better now that I know that the part is inexpensive.. the only question I have now is how hard is it to replace.

Yeah it's not hard to replace, just have to take the door panel out, and there are two nuts if I remember right on the inside of the door and two nuts on the door frame that attaches it. Was done in about 20 minutes or so if you can align them right. But it wears off easily again as we use that door the most.

mine does the same thing, u can obviously see thats the problem since mine is missing the plastic on one side. could you modify it to open at every inch or so? like a volkswagen?

Actually the new one does have a bit of rigidity at every inch, it will work just like your back doors if you haven't used them as much. My back doors stop on every inch as well.
