How To Switch Odometers (video Tutorial)

Do you want to change clusters and want to keep your original miles but don't know how. Well now you do. It's a very simple procedure that requires no skill at all, anyone can do this. Only tools that you will need is a Phillips and a flat head screw driver. This is not Illegal to do because you are not trying to roll the miles like back in the day or temper with the actual odometer. You are just taking yours out and installing it in a new cluster.

    Proceed at your own risk!

This is not illegal because you are not trying to roll the miles like back in the day or mess with the odometer itself to read different miles to sell the car with lower miles to make a bigger profit dude.. You are just swapping them out, just like you would if you bought another dashboard and swapped the Vin's on it. I would not teach people how to do something illegal.

no i mean your making this not illegal anymore by getting the true miles of your G into your car... anyone could sell a G with 200k miles with a 80k cluster... i said it wrong the first time my bad

    Good tutorial Raz.

Only thing that was wierd was when I swapped mine with a 99-01 4 cylinder my oddometer was the same as my old v6 one. Shouldn't the oddometer be recorded in the ECU? I don't know, maybe the new one had exactly the same mileage as my old one who knows? If so, that was some coincidence.

No, it will not change. The miles are stored in the odometer you saw me pull out. That is why I made the tutorial. I tried all 3 of my Galants before i did it. After the 8G galants are 10 years old, this tutorial will be valuable to thieves because after tenyears of that car made you don't have to have a odometer reading to prove the original miles when you sell it, so someone crooked can use this and put lower miles on that galant only to make more money. So after 2009 people really need to check into this if you are looking to purchase a 99 Galant that might have less miles then you think it should have. At least that is the way the law is here in Oklahoma.

only thing ray... on the 02-03 gauge cluster, the indicator lights for the fogs and whatnot in the area i circled in the picture, they are cut out of the main face piece, and if you just got a bezel and new gauges, those indicators would just be lights and not the actual symbol for each thing.

Sorry bro, I'm just a little confused to what you are saying. Maybe I'm retarded. Try Spanish... jk Are you saying that I cant use a bezel on the 02 custer? The 99-01 and 02-03 clusters are the same underneth. I have a 99-01 bezel on my 02-03 cluster and all lights are showing.

ok, the turn signals, fog light indicator and whatever else is up there, those patterns for the symbol are cut from the entire gauge piece. if you were to take that off, and replace it with a 99-01 bezel with aftermarket gauges, then those holes on the bezel for those symbols would just be open with just a light behind it, instead of, for example, a turn signal symbol. make sense?

Why would they?? The faces on the 99-01 and 02-03 are the same except the color and the fact that one is in 3 in one in one piece, right? Are you concerned that the bezel would cover those or that the aftermarket face wont ?? I personally don't see why they wouldn't
