7G Galant 2G Eclipse radiator exchangeability

hey guys my rad on my VR4 is blown from the previous headgasket failure, I need a new one and I prefer to get an el cheapo aluminum rad due to the significantly hot situation of the V6 TT setup.

the radiator is the same on the VR4 as with the USDM Galant, but if it's the same as a 2G Eclipse it'll it easier to hunt for an alum rad or what not.

if they don't interchange, does anyone know of any radiator makers that make aluminum radiator for the 7G Galant? thanks.:smt041

The 2g radiator hoses are positioned differently from the 7g radiator. Pretty easy to remedy, pretty sure mounting it isn't difficult either.

actually I browsed around and the Dodge Colt/ Mitsubishi Mirage with the bigger 4G93 motor seems to have a rad that looks just like ours

does that fit? aluminum radiator for that car is available I think.

edit: hey guys I found this:

all that matters. is that the 7g has the radiator pressure cap on the radiator itself, wheras on the 2g, the cap is on the thermostat housing itself.

so as long as there is a way to put the pressure relief cap on your engine, and not on the radiator. then yeah. they should be completely interchangable

Unless there is a big difference between EU and US engines, then the 4G93 is only a 1.8 engine.
And the rad for the Colt/Mirage is smaller than for the galant.
Think there is a sensor in the colt/mirage rad, but that should be easily fixed, aside from that i think they should be interchangeable without probs.

hmmm so nothing for us as far as like triple layer racing radiator things go? What if I get a 1G Talon rad and just add a rad cap fitting in the top radiator hose?

VR4 engine is such a hot mule though.... oh well.
