    HP Gain: Intake vs Headers

Which one would give out more HP: a short ram intake or new headers?

Put both on and you may see a 10 horsepower gain, max....

Well my best advice to you would be don't ever buy nitrous unless want to deal with some engine issues. Galant is not a high powered car. Turbo would be most prolific when it comes to horsepower.

Here's a question, still got that automatic tranny in there? That would be the first step in getting more power to the wheels, and it does cost less than a turbo setup, that's for sure.

For now, just buy the short ram intake, I'm sure you'll have fun racing with it or whatever it is you plan to do....

Yes sir. No dyno necessary to support my claim...

The i4 gets about 110 to the wheels and the V6 gets about 155/160 (with the automatic transmission)

no. but it gets the power you ALREADY have to the ground better than the slushbox.

I honestly, don't know what Mitsubishi was thinking when they decided to take the galant and sell it only in automatic in the U.S. I just don't understand it?

I'd rather have the knowledge and ability to do it than the money to buy it already done.

you just contradicted yourself in that post. you said no it doesn't get better wheel hp but it gets the hp our cars already have better to the ground. which my translation of that is that the manual tranny is more efficient thus more whp

He said wheel horsepower Jigz, so I'm not saying it MAKES more power, which is the engine's job, it just transmits the power produced with greater efficiency, therefore making more power AT the wheels

And yeah, Amen to that, it's a shame there are only 10 stock 5 speed 8G's floating around in the country....talk about rare

There were about 500 Galants produced with a manual transmission in the US. I believe they were sold in the DE trim.

Nitrous doesnt ALWAYS cause engine problems. Nitrous can be used with no problems as long as used responsibly.

I would add a SRI or CAI first, then add headers after. But why stop at just headers and a CAI? Get a cat-back too!
