    How to fit a 7G A/T shifter on an 8G

    So this morning I went to the junkyard and saw the 7g automatic shifter and thought ,"hmm, that looks a lot better than mine!"
    I ended up buying it for around $3

    After taking off my 8g oem shifter (place it in L for maneuvering)
    it looked like this VVVVVV

    Now shave the top little triangle with a dremel
    VVVVV

    To make the top of the inner tubing fit the white plastic, you know need to shave the edges:
    VVVVV

    Test fit to make sure its somewhat snug, some freeplay is fine
    VVVVV

    Now I simply used a flashlight and aligned the bottom hole of the 7g shifter to the top hole of the 8g shifter column,
    Honestly it is a little loose(it only has one screw holding it!) but im sure ill eventually take it off eventually and drill a hole lower and shave more off the top of the white plastic piece we shave earlier.

    Final product;

    Now i keep my fingers crossed and keep checking the junkyard for the oem silver trim pieces or paint them myself.

    that same proces can work with Any shift knob really. I think all Stock shifters look *yuk*. ya might as well use an aftermarket one while you're at it. I did that same exact thing last year with a Pilot, and then a Greddy shift knob.

    last pic i took w/ pilot..

    looks good but i made it so that i could use a long aftermarker manual shift nob. i did the same procedure though. great minds think alike. lol. i hated that big bulky piece of crap. in order to shift it i just push down on the whole nob. looks great though. good job

    Looks 10x better than the stock shifter but I'm a bit worried about how secure it truly is.
