depends on why you need to reset the ecu if it is just a code then unhook the battery or remove the battery fuse lave it out for about 10 min reconnect the battery and start the car do not touch anything let the car sit at idel for about15 min this way it can reset all the peramiters and it should be good. if your asking about tuning then it has to be reflashed. If I'm wrong some please correct me

Pretty much everything you said is correct. I personally disconnect negative battery terminal, press the brake pedal down for 30 secs & then simply reconnect the terminal to the battery.

By holding the brake pedal down you are just making sure all the access electric is drained from the system. This is key to a proper ecu reset.

As for tuning/flashing the ecu its recommended to take to a certified shop.
