Dont buy you cant buy a 20g or 16g thats in good condition for 350
From personal experience. Do not buy them. There is a reason they are cheap. The exhaust side is less than half the thickness of the MHI hot side.. And the MHI hot side has issues with cracking. Other then that. They ARE IDENTICAL to the REAL DEAL.
Save your money, spend an extra $150 and get a real Evo3 16g.
7g for life!
the real question here is 16g v 20g,
my answer is how much boost do you want to run? anything less than 20 lbs.... don't even consider the 20g.
as far as 16g's go. if you pllan on getting an evo3 16g, but only plan on running 7-8 lbs of boost..... then you will need an external wastegate, cause evo3's creep like all hell under 14lbs of boost.

John is right.
E3 16g 's are GREAT turbos, but they loose their efficiency around 22psi...unless you port the crap out of it, then it will become a bit more effecient but nothing close to a 20g's. Some people have made GREAT power from a E3 16g...most I have seen is on my friends old setup on his GVR4 which he made 460 awhp, but his motor was built and that was some good tuning. The average power a 16g makes is around 350 -380 hp
20g's are way more effecient compared to a 16g..I believe up to 26psi. Takes a little more time to spool compared to a 16g though. To be honest 20g's are great turbos..but a bit dated. 50trim turbos are the better choice but they are more $$$. 20g's are good for around the 450ish hp range..but with a built motor and tune, there have been some 20g's making close to 500hp.
I was going to upgrade to a 50trim..but got a awsome deal on a rebuilt and ported MHI 20g that I couldn't pass up to use for my GVR4.
Now depends on what application you are going to mate the turbo to. If its a 2.0...then you will probably enjoy a E3 16g. You get awsome spool up and good top end. If you are going to mate it to a 2.4...its a bit too small for that motor.
If you plan to mate it with a 2.4....I would suggest a 20g.

you guys also need to take into account that a stock 4G64 has a 10:1 compression ratio in the SOHC model and a 10.5:1 compression ratio in the DOHC model, correct me if I'm wrong but I did read that SOMEWHERE.
Turbocharging...your increasing what is already a high cylinder pressure to levels far beyond what the stock cylinder head and piston rings were designed for. Sure, your ignition and fuel systems can be brought up to par to support healthy AFRs, but that engine was designed for getting grocerys and picking the kids up from school. Lets be honest here, that engine might hold up to mild amounts of boost, but for how long?

and with a 20g, trying to push over 400 horsepower...something is going to break.

well considering im already turbo'd i know what the comp ratio is. all i asked in this thread is if any of you guys thought there was a significant difference between both of those ebay turbos (big 16g and 20g) people have replied without reading the question carefully.. so if anyone does happen to notice a difference between those two ebay turbo's please let me know.
They are cheap china turbos. Turbo's might not be balanced correctly and use cheap metals for the internal components compared to a true MHI turbo.
Simply...they will not last or perform as well as a true MHI turbo.

the links u posted are both for the same turbo apparently.. But 4grim said the differences -- the 20g is larger on the compressor side with different wheels and is worthless under 18 psi or so -- the 16g has smaller compressor housing and wheel and will spool faster and looses around 23psi.. so i guess ur answer is yes there is a significant power difference between real big 16gs and 20gs and unless ur a built motor i doubt the 20g will give more power at 15psi than a big16g at 15psi and u will not reach the full potential of 16g on stock engine let alone a 20g... I see a lot of people buying 50 trims and bigger for 8lbs -- I dont however see much if any increase over more pounds on a smaller turbo that has not reached its full range yet..
