Yes make sure you can put the grenade pin back in. If you cant, it either has too much tension or not enough. Dont go by the slack in the belt, there will always be slack up top between the gears.
You know you have the right amount of pressure when you can pull the pin, rotate the assembly, let it sit for 15 min, and then put the pin back in.
I have always done my timing jobs by myself. Do what Shadow recommended and get the big clamp paper clips to hold the belt to the cam gears.
