Solid Aluminum Front and Rear Motor Mounts

On my hiatus I've been leaving cars alone and just trying to relax, but I stumbled upon this topic today.

    http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/bolt...or-mounts.html

Sadly this person isn't working on these anymore, but a Group Buy has just begun for a new set. Currently they are mainly working on these for the 1G, but there is a possibility of having another set for the 2g made. Just passing along the word as I personally was never sold on the prothane set.

i personally hate the front/rear prothane inserts. i know some people swear by 'em, but some people also voted for bush a 2nd term. i have 2G eclipse front/rear OEM mounts, and the 2G prothane inserts fit about as well as a square does into a circle. my wheel hop is probably worse, and the motor sludges/bounces around all day.

i don't know if i'd get solid alum. mounts, i'm getting pretty sick of my current vibration status. but i like what he said about the thin layers of industrial polyurethane, going to have to look into that....

I filled my front and rear mounts with "windo weld" about 2.5 years ago. Despite every one saying it wouldn't last 6 months! This mod has almost completely removed any wheel hop. I have driven in an Eclipse with the inserts and like mine better!

Fewer vibrations felt in the cabin! With about the same performance.

All i can say is id hate to be you when youre idling if you get completely solid mounts. I HATED the prothane inserts so i couldnt imagine how bad these would be.

i beat on my car too much and get max 6 months outa new mounts. my engine is crooked now :(

and the vibrations i gave up and got used to it.
i was getting desperate and thinkin of welding something crazy here n there.
    ill try anthing.
so solid aluminum mounts will b alot better han my crooked engine and bashed up A/C compressor pully :(

    let me know

Wow you didn't read, there is no group buy. Just a discussion of custom ones and results vs prothanes. If you're truly interested contact a shop near you to have it done.

I dont think the poly mounts I have are that bad in terms of vibration...maybe i've grown accustomed to it in combination with the vibration of the cam...but i think solid aluminum ones would be awful. you'd feel every turn of the crank I'd think.

I'll be buying a set of these when they are released for the 2g.
they offer a few different durometers of poly to fill them with. and all 4 mounts are truly solid poly. no inserts, no nonsense.

and they say you can order them completely solid(no poly).

I've been watching that too Stunr. I'm patiently waiting for their 2g set as well.
