    The Other Car

Looking for TGC Mechanics - The Other Car: A 2000 Ford Taurus has been having some problems. When driving down the road all the lights will dim (inside and out), the battery and alt have been tested and appear ok. I thought perhaps the alt belt may need changed, not sure if that could cause such a problem.

Just thought I would mention this, over the summer when ever it had less than half a tank the car would die or hestitate bad, don't no if the two could be related.

I'm just looking for some causes or ideas, its my moms car so there could be other things that I'm not aware of.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I wish, no just the 03 ESV6 and until student loans/car loans are paid nothing else; the Taurus is my mothers.

Check the grounds in the engine bay. Replace both pos/neg connectors if they look like they have any corrosion at all.

For the fuel issue, it could be the fuel pump, fuel filter, or fuel pressure regulator would be m top three guesses. You can replace the fuel filter and buy an inline fuel pressure gauge to test the fuel pressure on the feed side of the fuel rail.

My mom doesn't rock any aftermarket parts, and a Ford my thoughts but the thing has been reliable and the 2 (one for each decade) before that.

    Thanks for the input.
