Make luminated shifter(other style) Cheapest Mod Ever To Do.

Forgive me for the pictures they were taken with a mobile phone

    What you need:
-something warm to make plastic easier to cut I just used a lighter as it was accessible.
    -a razor
    -aluminum foil(possibly)
    -krazy glue

Refer here to taking apart the shifter piece.

    https://www.thegalantcenter.org/show...104#post471104

Now that you have it apart you will want to cut the top piece of the triangular light bulb holding bracket, probably about 1 cm in depth.

Then cut off the reflective tape piece and mount the bulb bracket where that was being held I used krazy glue cause it makes life ez. It should look like this.

Now I used aluminum foil to separate each section

Yeah not very professional also used krazy glue.

This is how it looks without using the aluminum foil to separate it.

Then I painted it blue and separated it and here is the finished product.

Yeah ez and pretty much free but its not a bad mod to do.

Looks good. Could be done cleaner, but it looks really good for how easily it was done.

Yeah definitely could have put more effort in but I was going just for it to look nice once installed.

I was just looking at this again and I just realized how much of a difference the aluminum foil made. I am thinking of other ways to do this to make it cleaner as a whole but nothing is really striking me cause of the way the light bulb bracket is. If you have any ideas post them if I like them I may try them out for a cleaner job.

No one else was interested in this mod?

Cool mod, but I have a shifter boot covering it up so I can't see it anyway.

It was either this or that the shifter boot is like trying to say you have a manual in my mind so I did this.

This is the same MOD (except I used only one LED) I did to my car back in June of 2007. Lot of people here gave me crap about it... I see that some one else thought it was a good MOD too...

    Nice work 03-Galant-ES

Yeah only difference was mine lights up letter too so you arent guessing which dot is lit up. I just did it cause we talked about it and I said it would be easy. I am covering the whole thing with a shift boot soon because I have an MDX shift knob and it doesnt look too good without a boot.

    I agree.

The reason I didn't use LED's on the letters is that letters do light up with the head lights on and I didn't see the need to add more bulbs (LED's).

Anyway, I like what you have done. Good work!
