    Speaker Popping Sound

I have a used 2000 GTZ that I have owned for a year now. Lately, the rear speakers have this popping sound. I have searched online for it and consumerautoguide says it might be due to a short when the power seat is operated. But it does not pop only during operation, it also pops when no one is sitting in the car. The Mitsubishi dealer wants $100 just to diagnose the problem. I have removed the HU to have a look at the cables as well as the amp underneath the passenger's seat. Seems like the connectors are secure. Does anyone have an idea what else I can check?

    Thanks!

Does it pop by itself when the car is off with no music playing? Or does it only pop along with the music?

It pops whenever the HU is on. Like when playing music or when volume is zero.

It's either the HU or the amp..

Meaning to say one of them is faulty or one of them is shorted to GND?

Faulty.. If it was shortened, it wouldn't work at all..

I was checking online and found this MITAH adapter. Thought of buying one to connect to my MP3 player but I realized that there are 4 RCA cables. Does anyone know what these 4 RCA cables lead to?

The MITAH adapter is so that you could use an aftermarket headunit with front a rear audio out.. All it does is convert that plug into rca's so that you could put an aftermarket radio in there..
