I recently updated my 91 Galant GS with a replacement auto trans, the unit is an SKM-175, equivalent to F4A22 or 23, 2WD. The torque converter lockup is struggling, and when hardwiring the TQ lockup, it slips. Weve tried another valve body (that we know is good) and another set of solenoids with no change. The TCU is giving a code 49 saying that there is a malfunction with the Damper clutch system. If the Damper is bad in the TQ, how would the computer detect it? ITs not like there is a sensor on there or anything. Any help or comments are appreciated, altho it seems like there isnt anyone on here with these cars anymore.
