We're only looking into the 4 cylinder right now. Not sure about the V6.

That's a great find.. We should try and get a service manual for the hyundai to see if the tranny, shifter assembly and cables match.

Its like a scavanger hunt! lets all search through pictures of trannys then see if they look the same then research! person with the most finds wins something! ooo the prize can be a TGC Tranny Finder Sticker!

the gear cover on the sonata trans seems to be facing forward then downward like the mitsu trans.

I think it may fit but the shifter cable, mount and clutch slave/master are different. I think the clutch pedal is the same though.

    great find and thread

doesnt look like its going to work direct swap like eclipse 5 speed.. Its clearly different... The mounts dont look the same either.. Looks like it bolt up to engine as stewi said but will probably have to fab mounting brackets and figure out shifter connections...

I think the only issue is with the shifter cables/mechanism on the tranny and possibly the clutch. Believe it or not, I think that goofy looking mount will work. Im gonna try to find a banged up sonata and see what I can figure out.

Ok so I just found out one of the junkyards near my house has a 5 speed tranny for an 01 Sonata showing up on car-part.com

I am off on friday, after I bring my tranny to NJ to get built, then stop in SI to help goosey time his motor, i will go and check this tranny out. I have an empty eclipse 5 speed tranny, its literally just a bell housing and case, I will try to take side by side pics.
