i love it. looks like its so much fun!
There is this new local road course very near my parents house deep within the industrial area. Its been certified to be a SCCA approved course where you can get your license and get track time. For now...every Friday they have Crooked drags with is basically a 1/4 mile long track with turns and staights and just recently their Drift track opened where drifters can go out and have a melee of fun. I got there really early and met the owner of the place and the guy is super cool and took me around to tour the track...so I got a new friend.
Met some new people and surprised alot of people with the 7g as once I was able to get used to the track layout I was able to compete very well against some "higher" class cars. I invited some of my friends but they all had to either work or other plans so I went out by myself, but I had fun and got in about 15 runs or so.
Here are some pics I took...sorry there isn't too many. I took the pics right when the track opened but there wasn't too many cars, but about 30 mins after the track opened alot of cars started to come in. When I left around 8:30ish there were about a good 50 cars in the staging lanes.

The red 86 MR2 is fully ready SCCA race car with a built 4age motor. That car was super fast and was wiping the asphalt against anything. Its owned by some older guy who is very modest, but very cool and gave me some tips.
I went against the Evo once and we had a pretty nice race, he beat me though by a full car. I was able to smack down a couple S2000s, a few Civics, a Nissan sentra SEr, and a 2006 BMW 325i. I lost to a experienced SCCA S2K driver, Evo X, Miata, and a 240sx.
I managed to catch a patch of road dirt during a series of S turns and the back end got loose and tapped a big cone. Looks like I will be able to buff it out..looks like its all surface residue from the cone.
Overall I had alot of fun and was happy how the car handled. I probably can dial up the dampening just a little bit. My Bridgestones Potenzas did a awsome job on gripping. I was able to take turns pretty fast and only had a couple noticable understeer issues.
I can't wait to go again once I install the new clutch setup. My clutch was the MAIN thing holding me back today from really going wide open throttle on the straights.

Light em up.
I love competing in my car. Makes you appreciate it sooo much more.
Your rear tires look cooked man. or is it just a bad angle?
So are you an SCCA member yet?

looks awesome dude, glad you had fun, sweet pics too
Wow, that's what i'm talking about. i know our cars handle well and will surprise everyone. Looks fun.
Its the angle...they have plenty of meat on them and plus they are widening the main road in front of our sub divsion and I have to run over a good 20ft of dirt/gravel road for now so the tires get dirty like in the pics.
Not technically a member yet...just been to some SCCA events and some OPEN events where they teach some very basic info and escorted run at super snail speeds:(. The guy in that 86 MR2 in the pics though was giving me some info and advice with the whole technique, rule and SCCA thing. They are having a SCCA event at the track this coming Sunday and he invited me to come and check it out. I think I will for just a little bit with the significant other.
His advice is to do these crooked drags to get me more in sync with my car and gain some real world experience and when I officially start my way on my SCCA membership then you will understand the concepts.
I may go out next friday again with some friends...but would really love to run the car again once the new clutch is in and a few more suspension mods. If you have anything like this remotely close in your area...I highly suggest doing it. Like what John said....you will appreciate your car more and enhance the bond with your car.:smt004
Yes Lawrence..the car handled really well last night. I only noticed and experience a couple events of understeer but its most likely I entered a turn a little too fast. On the "S" turns though the car felt like it was on rails....man what a exilerating experience! It was funny though I passed in front of the spectators area back to the staging lanes you can hear commments like:Wow, that's what i'm talking about. i know our cars handle well and will surprise everyone. Looks fun.
"Dayam that Galant is Effin tight"
"That Galant owned that beemer"
"That Galant is fast man"
The final turn is where most of the cars either slide, understeer bad, or for the RWD cars the rear end gets loose but not one time last night my car get loose on that turn, just turned like it was on rails.

man thats awesome. but i dont think im going to be doing this kind of stuff with the 7g. looks like a lot of fun though. also glad you showed those people what a 7g can do.
that 180 in the pics was nice! im thinking of getting a 180 once i get the funds and probably keep the 7g as a DD.

I went ahead and tried to buff out the cone mark this morning. I was able to get 98% of it off, just some fine scratches only noticable up close to the area. I think if I hit it with another round of rubbing compound and polish and a nice varible speed buffer it should get most of the remaining scratches out.

i might have to take a trip down to rip a 5spd 74 on that track :-p
Iam In for a round or two... Ive seen some guys promoting this track on the evo forums but a lot of fellas there don't build there evo for it and are afraid of scrathing em :) (including me lol)
I finally got some rims and will be getting some tires for it soon... I will be changing up my suspension a bit and want to see how it handles afterwards...
Nice reppin for the 7g G-Rim!!!!!
