I get a paper clip and then straighten it. One end goes in the pin one on the OBD2 plug, the other end goes to ground by any means necessary. The CEL is gonna turn off for a moment then it gona start flashing quickly with short pauses - you count the flashes /record that number/. Then the CEL will turn off for little longer, and it will start flashing again - record the number again.

Ex.: if your first count was 2, then longer pause then second count was 5 then your code is 25.

now this is the hard part - you have to pay close attention. If you ahve more than one code - it will pause between the codes, and the pause time is the same as the time between the two numbers. you can catch that because there are no 3 digit error codes.
just did it to my car this morning and got codes 55 and 59, bad IAC and rear o2.

dude i dont know, i can't stand the EGR bs with our cars. i've spent half of my life reading about EGR valves on here and DSMTuners, and getting a straight answer on these POSs requires an act of god.

lol, you have to keep cleaning it every 3-4 months to avoid clogging. I did it a year ago and i have to do it again. the alternative is the emission free harness which came on some 97 and 98 models. i have it and the reason why i havent installed it is that it has a factory alarm which is hooked up to the main harness, and i dont have a remote. It doesn have EGR, manifold pressure sensor and the solenoids. the only thing it has is the evap canister.

yeah cleaning is fine, i was talking more about blocking-off the EGR vs leaving it unblocked.

lol, unblocked egr = open exhaust and open intake manifold = no bueno

ive read people modify the egr system by blocking only the exhaust side and drilling a hole in the valve on the exhaust side, so when it opens it sucks fresh air instead of exhaust gas
