a local shop said they can install everything (remote start and alarm) for 100 bucks. I found the 5701 on sonic electronix for 220 and the 5901 is only 280.

no it wasn't the xk bypasses, it is exactly like a 556u but updated to where you can put a module inside the unit instead of the key. we got them back in january at circuit.

anything made by DEI is a great product. (viper, python, clifford, etc.) it just depends on what you want. i am assuming you want an alarm and remote start. but do you want other things hooked up to it? do you want a 2-way system? etc.

i really dont know. 2 way would be nice but I really want remote start because its already hitting 105 here in AZ and in the summer it can get close to 120.

just spring for the extra to get the 5901 to just have the alarm
but yeah best buy does have the update DEI bypass but you still need to give them a transponder key

most americans (ford gm chrysler) are the only ones that i know off where you can get around with just having a module and no transponder inside

oh and like i said make sure the final price does in fact include everything upfront

yeah it gets kinda confusing i did a lot of research because i was desperately tryna get out of having to give up a key but it came down to the actual immobilizer that the different automakers use
