Power steering Pump (mine is shot and i need tips on changing it)

So to make a long story short i was hoping to make it till the weekend to fix what the squealing was in the engine bay. Well after a quick once over last night i noticed the power steering pump was the culprit
(the belt was tight and steering has been feeling a little strange lately). So i head off to work this AM and get about a mile from the house and bam the belt breaks.

Anyway who has changed the power steering pump before and can offer me some tips??? I have basic hand tools, air ratchet, impact gun, and compressor. Do i need any special tools?

i replaced mine before. its really easy. no special tools are needed to replace it. if i remember correctly there are 3 bolts holding it in and the 2 lines. i do remember that 1 of the bolts maybe 2 of them are behind the pully. but there are 2 holes in the pully so you can reach them. other than that its simple enough. you also have to take the alternator belt off to put the new power stearing belt in. i would recomend replaceing the alternator belt while your at it.

you shouldnt need one. my new pump came with the pully. it was just a simple swap out and refill for me.

I finnally got to work on the galant this morning. I replaced the P/s and Alternator belts to see if the pump was truly bad or it was just that the tension on the belts was to loose (after doing my research on here).

SO guess what? it was just the belts. I have no high picthed squeel. eveything is quite and nice.

    Happy me!!!

thats great, it saves the small hassle of changing the pump out. but from my experiance from our galant is that the belts can make a ton of noise at times. mostly the alternater belt for me. my boss's son's galant was the same way. but iv'e been using duralast belts and havent had a peep of noise yet, lol.
