Yep there is either a fuel cutoff or electronically limited at 128! Been there, done that, and might do it again tomorrow! LOL
There's at least one person on here (you know who you are) who, for some reason doesn't have a fuel cutoff on his I-4, and can reach 140. The rest of us without modification can only hit 128. I hate that feeling when you hit fuel cutoff and the car starts lurching. LOL

I wish...topped out at 138
I want to say that i have got my car up to 130 or something but its hard to tell when the speedo stops at 120. I raced a SS Impala about 3 months ago and we were side by side and he said he was at 130. I think i could have got him if we another 1/4 mile!!!

is there any way to bypass the cut off?
Only way to mod it is to modify the PCM with a chip as far as I know. It's there as a safety feature, since most tires aren't rated over 130 unless you get a Z rated tire.

Only reason I know is because I was paced by a bike
so the only worry is the tires then where can i get this chip?

Check jetchip.com. It's $400 and make sure it's the last mod you do, because it is tuned to the mods on your car. Course there's always the risk of damage to the internals from exceeding the cutoff.

Top speed I've been on the freeway was probably around 125ish I'm not sure because the speedo cuts off at 120 so I'm assuming I hit the 128 mph limit...but I never go above 90 now because frankly it scares me to deathOn the dyno we got the car up to god knows what but it didn't hit the fuel cut off even past 120 so I requested that they stop the car before I risked engine failure.

Really dont know what the top speed was.. I was racing a 360 at the time at the turnpike, i dont have a rev-limiter or fuel cutoff.. hit nitrous at about 120, needle was burried, rpms said 6500..i would say 140mph, but who really knows..

i have a 99 and i believe that our year didn't have a government limiter on the car...so i guess ecu for 99 will solve the problem...

tell you the truth ewg,, i been lucky i have no radar detector,, and i usally speed on my way back to work in the morning,, i havent got pulled over for nothing yetttttttttttt.

Ive only had 4 speeding tickets in my 8 years of driving!!! Only 1 was excessive speeding. I got caught in 97 doing 92 in a 55!!! I was going faster than that but i jammed on brakes when i seen the cop!! LOL the ticket was like $440.00!! I havent got any tickets since i got my G-Ride though.
