How Can I Make my Car get the most MPG

I would like to drop a new engine in my car and i had a couple recommendations on engine types and I’m not sure if there are better engines out there so far I have

    2 Options

    DohC Vtec

    Jasper Engines

But does anyone have any idea on how to make a 1996 Mitsubishi Gallant ES
    4 Cyl. 16 Valves 2.4 L
the most gas efficient it can possibly be?

Well just go easy on your right foot and drive like a grandma. I did this and I got almost 31mpg going from Virginia Beach to Allentown, Pa. It also wouldn't hurt to have a clean air filter and clean fluids throughout. The correct tire pressure also makes a world of difference.
    Light em up.

Vtec engines are for honda's i highly doubt one will fit in a 7g. there is the 4G63T wich is a DOHC. as for MPG, make sure your filters/fluids are properly maintained. and correct tire pressure probably makes the biggest difference.

dude mpgs are fine on 7gs.. 900 mile drive and i only stopped for gas twice and i was flying.. if i drove solw i prolly would have only needed 2 stop once.. leave it that way it is.. seafoam it or something like that fix all the filters check the catalytic converter and exhaust 4 leaks..

anything but vtech cuz the vtech hondas arent the 1s with the most mpg the sohc non vtech are and even the dohc non vtech are good. its how you drive and take care of ur car.. and if you do a lot of city driving your efforts will be futile

my 7g gets 28 MPH CITY. It was weird. I did a tank with me granny driving it then i did a tank with me pounding it as i normally do and the tank with me driving hard actually gave me better gas mileage.. How odd is that? IDK if its the "mods" ive done to it but i think thats pretty good gas mileage if you ask me.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypermiling

read this wiki. do your research, and practice.

there are a lot of mechanical things you can do from running slightly higher air pressure in your tires, running solid hub caps (or wrapping your hubcaps in foil to reduce drag), also things like blocks for your front grill so your front bumper is solid to reduce drag. You can fabricate skirts to cover your rear fenderwells to reduce drag further. even running skinnier tires makes a difference.
