    MAFT settings questions

Ok, So Im about to put Evo3 510cc injectors on my 4g64 motor 240cc stock injectors which has OBD1 ECU/1g/, but I get all kinds of information about what settings I should dial for BASE and AUX. Its 1st gen MAFT ver. 1.6. I researched it and got lots of info on it and from what I found out I need to compensate 53% with the MAFT.

    Formula: (1 - stock size inj. / new size inj)*100 = (1-240/510)*100 = 53%

    Here's the confusion:

    http://www.club3g.com/forum/rs-gs/10...m-maf-faq.html

If you follow the link^ and cross match 53% youll see settings BASE = A; AUX = F

    Another one:

    http://www.fullthrottletech.com/showthread.php?t=105

If you follow the link above theres a tuning table for MAFT ver 1.37 and above, and youll see the settings BASE = 8; AUX = 0

    One more:

    http://www.fullthrottletech.com/showthread.php?t=642

If you follow the link youll see instructions for ver 1.3 which puts the BASE setting between A and B for 53% lean out.

So, if someone is using MAFT, please help. I need to know what settings are correct. Just keep in mind that OBD1 fuel trims are leveled at 100%,and they are not like OBD2 trims leveled at 0%

with a maft, you will NEVER get it perfect.
    ever.
with that said. you aren't going to hurt anything if you get it wrong.
so just slap it on, and try a setting, watch your wideband, make adjustments.
    done.

the manual that comes with the MAF-T should have a look-up table for whatever injectors you are running, I would start there and trim the rest with something more versatile like S-AFC2

    Worked miracles for me.

However my engine is a 6A12 which the manual does not cover, I simply based the tuning on the fact that the Galant VR4 MAF is the identical part to a 2G Eclipse and turned the settings to match. If I change my injectors I will have trouble getting it right again.

    IDLE 14.7
    IDLE to 3000/Cruise at 65mph/ - 14.7-15.5

youre gonna have that 14b spooled by 2500

3000 and up, youre gonna have to set it for your car, but try to richen it down gradually to 11/WOT/

I know my 3/4WOT pulls are around 12 and it goes down more. If I do WOT with AFRs in the 13s I get knock

these cars have a tendency of running really rich up top.. i was helping a buddy tune a 1G a while back and the ratio went to 11s no matter how much fuel we tried to pull and you could just feel it bog out

i really dont want to lean out and i feel with the maft pro ill be able to stay away from that situation

Yeah, Ill get gen2 eventually, but I needz a job first. I like the MAFT+ SAFC, but i need some more stealthy and of course the ability to track wideband makes the gen2 much better than SAFC.

so the gen 2 will replace the traditional wideband gauge and just gets wired in to an O2 sensor?

Yeah, you dont need the gauge, but you still need the wideband controller with the necessary port.
