Icon3 Anyone ever installed trunk struts?

Well I'm tired of the factory counter balancing rods in my trunk. They rattle like crazy whenever my bass hits and no amount of dynomat is going to make that go away. I'm tired of it.

Anyone on here 7g or 8g installed struts in lieu of the tension rods?

I'm wondering if i just need to order any old size strut, or if there is some particular measurements i need to take.

Will an existing aftermarket replacement strut from another vehicle just bolt onto our cars?

Help me out here cause I'm sick of it lol. Would also be nice that my trunk pop all the way open when i pull the trunk release.

i think jays trunk has the closing issue cuz its the old CF trunk that didnt fit right even without the trunk struts.. maybe we can use the evo 1s as well cuz my stock 1s suck.. a gust of wind and my trunk shuts usually on me...

I wondered this too. I had the same rattling issue as well. This would be sweet to do

    *just looked at old posts*

Looks like all that was talked about was for the 8G. Am I missing something there? Or were those post really only for the 8G?

Those posts were for an 8G really, but you guys can probably use lancer ones as well just invert them like we do and it should work fine.

i had zip tied my bars together to reduce the rattle, but soem shocks would be sweet!

lol...i think they are talking about different struts.

i believe he used the redline trunk quicklift made for a lancer. i could be wrong though.
