That would set him back at least $2K+ just to get the engine and trans purchased...and swapped into the existing 4cly chassis he has.

With the money he would spend doing a V6 swap he would easily have a nicely built block to put a turbo onto

Vary smart choice to make and one of the best answers Iv seen any Noobie make. Most of them would just keep going asking questions when we tell them "Hey your not ready keep researching your info and know what your doing" If need to know anything else just ask but before anything research and if can not find let us know you cant find what you need and someone here would be glad to help you. Good luck on your project Mitusbishi power!!!!

This guy said money is a factor. for $3000 just buy a v6 and be done. that will put you in the ball park of 150hp but the car will be stock, with stock reliability.

a Evo headswap should also cost about $3000 for the just the head and labor. If you want to upgrade all the engine internals while your in there, it would be and additional $3000 for the pistons, rods, cams, cam gears, and maybe springs and valves. In the end, you would still only have about 120 whp

you could do a budget turbo setup for $3000, not including labor. Would involve a lot of learning and downtime. If you do not have the know-how. A shop would charge anywhere from $1000-2000 to install and custom fit your parts. Depending on the quality of parts and money invested, the car could make 150 to 250hp. but adding more parts mean more parts breaking so more maintenance down the road.

An evo headswap with built internals and only 120 whp? That just doesnt make sense to me. Care to elaborate?

There is nothing magical about DOHC. It gives the engine the potential to breath better but its not guaranteed horsepower.

stock for stock, DOHC honda engines are maybe 20 hp more than their SOHC counterpart. I posted a dyno chart a fews ago of a SOHC subaru vs a DOHC Subaru and the DOHC produced the same hp. the SOHC even had the torque come on a few hundred rpms sooner than the DOHC

If you were building it for maximum NA power, you could put in high compression pistons and other NA goodies and make more than 20 hp. But when you want to go turbo, that high compression stuff will have to come out. You could achieve the same results by building your SOHC for high compression.

nope but ive raced it with other cars, theres like 1 dyno where i live to expensive, but i should at least run it before i boost it :/ I've ate up a status r/t Manual, a 2000 mustang v6 manual with a few mods, I'm also manual so, if he were to stay auto it would probably blow
