Take alook at my manual transmission, need opinions

Went to look at 5-Speed transmission today, it came from a 2001 GS. I got transmission, pedals, clutch lines, shifter and cables for $100. Yeah I know $100 is cheap and that because it seem the flywheel cut into the bell housing somehow. Here are some pictures of the transmission. The cut goes all the way around the bell housing, except around the starter. I need input on what could case this and what other damage can occur internally to the transmission.

v6 manny? doesnt look like my i4. i dont think it could of done any more damage seeing that there wouldnt be any place for the flywheel to go but where it made its cut marks. im thinking the flywheel bolts just snapped or something alone those lines good luck.

pretty good price :) my full 5 speed swap is under 300 hundred and i only need flywheel bolts, tob and a speed sensor. i would make sure all the gears engage and the axel housing gears moves when you turn the center shaft .

Only sonata f5m42 swapped. N/A build in motion.

looks to round to be broken parts.... looks more like over sized flywheel or possibly part of the pressure plate.

The flywheel/clutch/pressure were still attached to the engine and the transmission was already out the car. I just couldn't pass on the deal. The transmission is for a I4, I can turn the shaft but not sure about the gears.

move the gear lever. see if it goes into every gear.

Looks like you just need to find someone who can weld the bellhousing you have now, or just get a new bell housing.

Make sure there is no play in the shaft either. no up/down and especially no left/right

looks like you are missing the cover thats on the shaft...

The guy I bought it from was going to take the bellhousing off and weld it, but decided to part out the car instead. I have the fork, but I do need a TOB. I can go back and see if I get the some of the other parts from the car. I am able to spin the shaft and there play on the shaft. I can wiggle a little up and left and right, could that be cause I'm missing the cover for the shaft?

its possible cuz technically, nothing is really holding it in place. also it will do you good to seal it back up again if you can.

I would trash that transmission. Unless you find or know a GOOD welder.

TIG it, dont mig it. Secondly, drill a small hole at the ends of the cracks to prevent it from cracking more. All input shafts have SOME play in them, my advice is to replace the bell housing if possible, one, its better than trying to weld that thing and wont cost much more and it gives you the ability to inspect the internals and make sure all is in order. I think I know someone who has a bell housing for that car. the website is Mitsubishigraveyard.com call and ask for Gary.
