    7G: Best Supporting Mods

This thread is created to inform and explain what modifications can be done to a 7g Galant. Please post a short explanation and picture to clarify what the modification improves. Please do no ask questions!!! For more info please check out the tutorial section.

    Brakes:

    Rear Disk Conversion

More braking power due to better cooling of rotor than the drum brakes. Many available brake pads. Uses pads for pedal braking and shoes for e-braking. Availability: 94 Galant GS, 2g Eclipse GST, 8g Galant, 3g Eclipse, 2g Diamante

    Proportioning Valve

OEM 7g valve designed for rear drum brakes. Can be used with disk brakes as well. It will engage rear brakes at more pedal travel. It makes the front brakes work more.

OEM 2g Eclipse non ABS valve designed for rear disk brakes. It will balance the amount of fluid going to the rear brakes which will relieve the stress off the front brakes. Availability: 2g Eclipse non ABS

    Dual Piston Front Calipers

More braking power to the front. These need more pedal pressure than single piston calipers which balances the rear brakes /if stock proportioning valve is used/. Availability: 3000gt SL, 1gen Diamante, 2g Eclipse GSX

    Drilled/Slotted Rotors

More gripping force with the pads, Better cooling, More efficient brake pad dust reflection /not too pretty wheels/ Availability: 4 lug REAR: 94 Galant GS, FRONT: 94-98 Galant,/6gen Galant VR4 with dual piston fronts/; 5 lug REAR: 2g Eclipse GST, FRONT: 2g Eclipse GST /GSX, 3000gt SL, 1 or 2 gen Diamante with dual piston fronts/

    Stainless Steel Brake lines

It Will improve brake response, will increase firmness of pedal

    Evo /Brembo/ Calipers/Rotors Upgrade

Requires 160mm imported front spindles off late models JDM 8g VR4. Rears are bolt on for the rear disk conversion backing plate with minor modification.

    Brake Pads

Any pad you want! There are plenty of choices: OEM, Generic, Axis, Akebono, EBC, HAWK.............

    Suspension:

    96-98 Front Upper Control Arms /upgrade for 94-95 /[/i]

The 96-98 arms have a reinforcement plank welded on the bottom side of the control arm. It will improve handling by reducing the flex in the arm. Availability: 96-98 Galant, 95-99 Eclipse all trims

    Aluminum Front Upper Control Arms

Stronger and cooler looking than any stock arm. Comes with balljoint camber correction.

    Rear Upper Tubular Control Arms

Stronger than the stamped steel stock ones. It will improve handling by reducing the flex in the arm. Availability: 8g Galant, 3g Eclipse

    Rear Lower Tubular Control Arms

Stronger than the stamped steel stock ones. It will improve handling by reducing the flex in the arm. Availability: 8g Galant, 3g Eclipse

2g Eclipse/94 Galant GS Rear Sway Bar

All trims but 94 GS came w/o rear sway bar. The 15mm one is a good start for beginner level of modification. It will reduce body sway at high speeds and hard cornering.

8g Galant / 3g Eclipse Rear Sway Bar

It requires 8g Galant/3g Eclipse rear lower control arms. Also, it's good to use 1g Diamante rear end links which are made of steel. Stock ones are plastic and pop out easily.
