    Mystery Foam Under Dash

    Vehicle is a 1997 galant ES, 2.4L inline 4 with AT. After removing the panel (kick panel?) under the steering wheel (just above driver feet) to replace the ignition switch, I found a block of foam with old hardened glue just laying in it. It obviouly fell out from somewhere. It is a fairly large and hard block about 5"x3"x3". I can't seem to find where it came from. It could have been protecting some sensitive components so I hate to leave it out. Any ideas about it's function or where it might have come from. Thanks.

    its proably nothin but garbage i had a little bar behind my gauges i threw it out no problems yet so i would say just toss it.
