key part# 06

anyone have the part# for they key for an 06? found one website selling the keys that claims they ship it with some chip to program it yourself. Anyone ever heard of this? I only have one key so I cant do it the way listed in the manual.

.. i wouldnt trust whatever it says on that site..
i make keys at work. we dont have a blank that'll work for mine because of some "krypto" thing. it isnt a normal chip.

if u have a blank oem key, u can program it yourself with a couple steps... however u need two original keys to do it

yes the 2 key method is listed in the owners manual. I have one key

.. im thinking your best bet is to just get the key from the dealer and find someone you trust to cut it (dealer usually wont cut the key).

of course as long as you dont plan on losing that one key.. if you just happen to lock the key in the car, one without a chip will open the doors, and set off the alarm, but it'll still open the door so you can get the other key.

i found the part number and ordered one on ebay for $70, dealer will charge $50 to program it.
