well i figured it out if anyone needs to know. You have to remove the engine mount, tranny mount, and crossmember. Gets you close enough to pull down the engine somemore and then pull the tensioner off.
anyone know how to get this thing off? I tried removing the motor mount and lowering the engine, but it still needs like another 2 inches before it clears.

i tried to do this once...samething happened...if it took all of that might as well replace your mounts
and now that i finally got the tensioner out, i come to find out that it isnt even the same one that the dealership sold me like forever ago.
Sorry I didnt see this sooner.
Rather than doing all that messing with the mounts and stuff, there is an easier way. Remove the 3 bolts that hold the pump to the bracket, set the pump aside. Then remove the bolts that hold the power steering mount bracket on, there are 4 of them, then you can replace the tensioner when the bracket is out. Doesnt require jacks or removing mounts and crossmembers or anything like that.
