Mine cranked normally when my belt snapped. And the same events occured. Randomly died while driving and didnt start back up.

I'd rather have the knowledge and ability to do it than the money to buy it already done.

u guys are like ninja fast with all the replies lol, but you have 2 drive belts, alternator belt, and power steering belt, the 3.0 has the gay bolt and nut adjusting pulley so in order to take it out u might need to jack up the car...

try what redgalant said, if not then sounds like timing belt it is... where is ur car located now?

if it is the timing. You're looking at replacing all valves and obvs timing belt along with putting it on correctly.

My 88 corolla once shut off on me while on the highway. It was the alternator. Lights and radio worked, but the car wouldnt start.

Dude my timing belt sloped and my car tryed to crank like nothing was wrong. I also think it's the timing belt. You need a tow truck bro.

if your galant derepense was walking and shuts down the engine and the belts are fine and everything else is correct, the problem is something that happened to me to me, my galant was walking and suddenly was extinguished, which was when we seek the problem, how much we knew it was the distributor cap that had contact with the rotor very worn, so the engine UEDO without power on and off and did not turn over.
CHECK THE TIMING BELT , and da DISTRIBUITOR CAP
