    i need a little bit of help deciding....

    alright, so id like to get a little discussion going and see what you all think of what ive been trying to decide for a few weeks now.

    so i just purchased a 97 eclipse gs-turbo. front wheel drive automatic. i picked it up for 1000 bucks since the kid snapped the timing belt and since it is an interference engine application the valves got bent so i picked up a new head from a buddy of mine. now i have been buying broken cars and fixing them and selling for a while now, but i kinda like this car...it has a LOT of potential.

    i am in the midst of collecting parts for my 5speed swap for my galant at the moment and i literally have 2 pieces left and a couple days off and ill be doing that. so heres what i need a little help deciding......should i keep the eclipse, build the auto tranny(yes i think i wanna keep it auto), build the motor, throw a set of cams, larger injectors, bigger turbo(maybe a 16g from an evo), and push around 450whp? or should i throw a stock head in it, drive it a little jsut to get a little bit of speed, sell it and do a full motor build for the galant? idk but id like to hear everyone elses opinions on this....thanks =]

    It is all about preference. I have a 2G I picked up less than a week ago. I am putting the 63 in it and putting a good size turbo on it. The problem with those motors is the large occurence of crankwalk. I backed out of the doing the motor swap and 5 speed swap for my G, but that is just my preference.

    Sell it. Work towards something worthwhile to keep, like a Corvette, a Porsche 911, or Acura NSX.

    i say build a motor for the galant how many fast 2gs are out there quit a few, but how many fast 8gs are there, not no where near as many. It would be more unique to do a 8g than a 2g

    i think i can get at least 4000 for the gst all fixed up, its in great condition bodywise and its in pretty good condition so maybe ill sell it. hmmmmm

    you can sell me your 5spd off galant and build the dsm :)

    In all seriousness sell dsm after fixing and build G or pay bills I hate selling cars but I had to sell both montero and 325i to pay bills :(

    Bills are caught up on and ive got no debt whatsoever. But how much money am i gonna have to put into the g in order to get 400+?!?!

    Sell both and get a real performance car or a luxury car.

    I am most qualified to say this since I own both (a galant and a dsm)

    Ask BJ or TJ how much they spent.... Wait a minute, they are banned. Those are V6 cars so just imagine how much more you will have to put in the 4 banger to pull those horses on a dyno.

    Ask Cali. He should be able to tell you how much it took just to get his to 300+.

    less then they put in there car v6 parts are expensive

    i could do it with a rough estimate of 5-6k

    and closer to 500hp

    any other v6 turbo's? I know bj isn't turbo but he's tuned with is 74 engine putting out decent power without FI.

    I would sell the eclipse personally. I have a gs-t in my garage. We picked it up for my lil brother, it's got about 200 miles over 100k and I'm worried about the crank-walk. Tj warned me about it but i decided it was the right car for him anyway lol. I'll be kicking myself in the ass if i need to load it on the trailer sometime this year. Anyway You'll have to replace bearings internally and stuff if you want something reliable. Dumping money into your g is your own choice. I can't say i recommend it. Just saying if you don't plan on ripping apart the motor near the crank, it's probably not worth keeping. Make it some one else's problem.

    Yes, BJ isn't turbo'd but imagine how much he put in that motor just to push out the numbers he pulled on the dyno.

    hell yeah my buddy has one he fixed it up it sounds beautiful underglow the whole 9 yards. the blow off valve on the stock turbo sounds great and its standard. hes selling it for $6000 torwards a 2010 nissan altima coupe. i would fix it and sell it you would definatly get your monies worth...
