Am I the only one with a 2010 Galant!?

Hello guys, I just recently purchased a 2010 Galant SE. Its a pretty cool car. My only two complaints so far is that some of the interior parts seem cheap and have the impression that they wont hold out in the long wrong, but I guess I will have to see. My second complaint is that the paint scratches super EASY, I already have scratches all over and I dont know how I got them lol... aside from that the car is sweet. Ive been looking all over online on forums etc with people with 2010 galant and it seems like I am the only one lol... anyways heres a quick pic of my car. No mods except for the tint.

Nice pickup, the Galant is a great car for the money in its class but Mitsubishi has not done much to invest in quality since their target market revolves around the Lancer lineup and Outlander. It's unforunate but obvious, as we see options disappear, particularly the Ralliart trim and V6 engine option.

Have you washed the car at all? The scratches in your paint may be the result of a poor material choice for washing purposes. Mitsubishi also has had a bad history with black paint...see "8G cancer"

Looks good. The interior of the Galant does seem a bit cheap but it will hold up very well for years to come.

The paint problems with Mitsu is an ongoing thing. Black paint tends to not hold up well & maybe you're looking into a paint job in the future.

Holy crap, I wish I would have known this before buying it. They had a silver one at the dealer. I guess I should have gotten that one. I have never washed the car. I only had it a week and its always garaged. I wonder if theres anything I can do to protect the paint on this car? Certain wax job maybe?

Thanks infliction, I signed up. I was unable to find anything in regards to the paint problem though. This has me worried now.

Don't let that get you down. You bought a good car that will serve for a long time if maintained correctly.

Since it's brand new, take it back to the dealer and ask them how the scratches are appearing on the paint. Usually a good wax and polish can put on a layer that will protect the paint to some extent. I think the Black Cancer problem is related to the 99-03 Galants mainly, they should have fixed it by now.

Whatever happens, never dust the car off with a dry cloth, it only scratches the hell out of the paint. Black does show the most imperfections in a car, but it is also the most appealing colour for this model in my opinion.

Use a clay bar the scratches are most likely on the clear coat if they are minor. If you have been scraping you would know. Wash car, clay bar it, wash it, wax it with carnuba wax...not the spray kind. The black issue was resolved I believe as the new Mitsus have a different color code.

Thanks bro, I appreciate it. I am going to have to find a good car detailer that will clay it for me.

ive had mine a year. cleaned the bugs off the front end today. found quite a few chips in the paint. of course i have "autoarmor" on my car. so that shouldnt happen.. but. because i do. i can get them fixed for free.
might be something to look into. i had paint, undercoating, and interior all protected for about $700

scratches can always come out with a cut and buff so don't stress. I Havent seen a black car yet that is in perfection condition.

white and silver cars have them too you just can't see them.

which no one has put up a picture of :)
i like both back ends. it just bothers me a bit how much the older ones look like chargers.
.. then again the new ones have been mistaken for a certain toyota.. :/
