    Galant no spark

Hi I've just bought a 1994 galant es.
I was told that the car has a distributor problem.
    I've put a distributor that I have of a 1996 galant s on it.
The engine turns over, but has no spark.
I've checked the engine fuses but everything seems to be fine.
What else should I checked for?
One more question I have, does the 1994 use cranksensor?
Cause I don't see no wires go to the timming case.
    Need some help asap.
    Thanks

94-95 dizzies have cam and crank sensors in them and 96-98 dizzy only has cam sensor. Thats why the 94-95 dizzy is much bigger.

Try to find a 94-95 distributor

Well got a 1994 distributor today.
Strange thing is that the distributor was on a 1997 galant and the engine uses a cranksensor
The engine starts and run with the 1994 distributor.
I just change the distributor, and put my 1996 one on it, and the engine runs as well.
The strange thing that I saw is that the intake manifold doesn't use the sensor on top of it

I want to understand this correctly. You said in first post 94 distributor was bad and 96 distributor wouldn't fire, then you tried a 97 distributor and it worked. So all the distributors now function in your 94? I wonder if your market is different as far as model year changes? Are all the caps the same size do they interchange? US market units are considerably larger for 94-95.

    Ok let mi explain.
The distributor that was in the 1997 galant, was a 1994 galant distributor.
    It has the number T6XXXXX.
I don't know why the 1994 distributor worked in the 1997 car.
I got the 1994 distributor out and put the 1996 disti in the 1997 galant and it worked also.
When I was putting the 1994 disti on my 1994 galant I saw that the cranksensor wire was cut.
But strange thing, the car starts and runs fine.

Now I understand. Where is crank sensor wire cut at distributor or elsewhere?

  16. #16
It's cut near by the end of the intake monifold,so half way to the crank

The 94-95 cars use a simulated crank signal off the distributor (signal from the cam not from crank itself). If you truly have a wire penetrating your timing belt cover then someone has replaced the motor with one a little newer like 96-98. Don't worry about it as computer only needs 1 crank signal and the distributor is supplying it.
