This engine don't produce anything with bolt ons (5-10hp at most and thats nothing), save your money for real performance mods.

I would go turbo and 5 speed swap it is costly but it would be worth it in the long run. That's my plans once i finish collecting parts started turbo collecting sofar

why dont you just go with some stock evo 8 turbo parts and a 5 speed swap..there really is no gain on bolt ons with these cars unless you go big

So even if i get a bigger throttle body, bigger intake manifold, bigger exhaust manifold, better headers, an intake(maybe with a "Y" elbow to make a 2 in 1 intake) and exhaust system ..i wont get a good boost in horsepower???

Maybe (and I'm using that loosely), you could end up with about a 5-15whp gain from all that.

you'll never be satisfied w/ bolt on if your looking for power. they just look nicer than oem parts.

You know the "Performance Modifications" section is here for a reason. This forum has been here since like 2002/2003 (maybe even earlier?), so believe me, this stuff has been discussed before in this section.

I think he's talking about the intake piping, not the manifold. Maybe he's thinking of like a cold air + short ram system? dunno. That will probably end up just disrupting airflow. A short ram intake already sucks in enough air as is

or somthingy like what the big V8s with the dual air inlets but they are mounted copltely different and need more air than our little 4 bangers
    like this

  14. #14
similar to that^ hes talking about one big intake pipe maybe 3" coming down and turning in to a little (Y)with to air filters at the ends. man dont do it,your not going to be happy with results with any bolt ons unless you do what i told you.

Yes, Turbo or 5 speed!!!!! is the number one answer. If you want a lil kick without all that. Change pistons and camshaft, bigger injectors and stronger fuel pump. Outlander mani with a v6 diamante tb. Need Evo ECU to manage your extra fuel from injectors plus more. In my opinion.

To be honest when i did my headers and cat back system (had CAI already) I notice a slide increase in the engine performance. It has more throttle response after 2 gear +. also when it down shift to first it holds the gear longer "AT". HP gain around 10 average. Is not much is not like is going to put your head all the way in the back sit. I mean, you could do the mod if you not looking for a super car. Just to keep you happy with your mod and helps the engine breath better. In the future yeah save up little by little for a 5 speed and turbo if you want that extra bang.
