    making a custom manifold HELP!

Does anyone know where I could get a evo8 turbo manifold made? someone that lives in Florida, preferably Orlando, I was hoping to get in touch with 4Grim but I don't think hes on here anymore,

I don't like the 1 inch spacer idea much, but am still willing to hear what ideas you guys got for me
thanks guys for all your help so far

I'm currently having a problem trying to get this turbo to fit :(

(I'd post this someplace else but don't know where)

4-G-rim is on Galanttuners.com, you can ask him there though. You want to shell out a lot of extra cash instead of going with the 1" spacer?

If u want one made hit up central florida turbo. I think your wasting money though, always think long term. What if you want to upgrade to a t3/4 in a year?

you sure your not confusing CFT with SFP. Southern Florida Performance. Back in the day everyone and their mother wanted a SFP manifold until they all started cracking.

what turbo are you running? i didnt know the DOHC head needed the spacer. if youre looking for an alternative, why dont you look into the cast manifold from FP for the DSM? all considering the turbo you are running of course. try the megan racing tubular if you are running an evo 16g setup. alot of the evo guys in my area run that manifold and are pretty happy with it.

I'd rather have the knowledge and ability to do it than the money to buy it already done.

x2. for censee's setup we're going to modify the bellhousing to relocate the starter to the bottom like evo's.

best way to go imo and you can use any bolt on kit as well.

tell me more about this modifying the bell housing. I was just about to drop some major coin on another dsm tubular manifold, but I think I rather use a bolt on kit for an evo. What is modified?

Do some searching on Club3g, Slava did this to his car about 2 years ago. Also if you go wayyyy back to Galant Speed days in 03' Clay did it to his JDM EVO 5 swap and still used the auto tranny.

There are a few ways to do it. You can find a damaged EVO bell housing and cut the starter mounting area out, cut the same size piece out of your tranny's bell housing at the bottom where the EVO starter would be, then weld it in.

The other way is to just fabricate the mounting point from a piece of fairly aluminum and weld that into place correctly.

once the turbo is on I don't think I'm taking it back off, I bought a cheapo ebay manifold and 2 spacers to mock up and i was still needing like a inch to clear the starter, so it didn't get my hopes high on buying an expensive manifold, and have it not work and having to go though the process in getting a refund ect. and still end up getting a custom one made, so I don't have to use the spacers anyways. I just don't like the Idea of having the 1 inch of extra space 3 gaskets and studs that might break off :/

I have 2 Grand to finish this project off

Here we go..... this is what I was talking about a few posts up......

Also some food for thought. If you read the whole thread he also relocated the slave cylinder, 95% of the people who do this starter mod wont need to relocate the slave. The reason he did was because the manifold he bought makes the turbo sit very very close to the block/tranny and he's using big turbo.

yea he has great pics to show you how to do it.

brian quick question, he's using the evo starter right? do you know if the teeth line up with the eclipse flywheel or is he using an evo flywheel?

i sent him a mesage but he hasn't been on in a bit.

I would venture to say he is still using the 3g flywheel since if he was using the EVO flywheel he would have a hard time finding a clutch that would fit with the same spline count and diameter as the RS/GS. Noel if you play your cards right, you could just weld in a bracket to mount the 3g starter down there. Granted its larger than the EVO starter, but it could be done. Im not certain if the EVO starter has the same tooth engagement or not.
