    FREE BRAKES FROM DEALERSHIP....

You heard it right...I went to the dealership today just for the usual oil change and the head mechanic/advisor told me about a bulletin about the front brakes and calipers..He asked me if I wanted to do it today, I'mlike sure.....I ended up having my front brakes and caliper brackets replace for free.......I was in desperate need of front brakes..I guess today was my lucky day...Have any others had this happen to them recently about front brakes......Thanks JOSH

Yep, 2001 GTZ, here's the TSB about brakes:

02-35-006 AUG 02 Brakes - Front Brake Ringing Noise

Strange though, the 2000 GTZ got this one, but it's dated 1997?

97-35-004 SEP 97 Brakes - Judder (vibration) Diagnosis and Repair

BTW, these are all listed here : Recall and TSB List!

    Chip
    Chip

    2000 Basalt Black Metallic GTZ
    (Paint Code: Porsche LC9Z)

Genuine experience carries a lot more credibility than the ability to answer a question.

Maybe it's time to ask the dealership to look into mine. Or maybe I'll just go ahead and get aftermarket brake components anyway.

So if they have another recall on the list can we take it to the dealer and see if they will fix it?

It was weird, all I went for was an oil change, which cost me nothing because of a gift certificate and also got the front brakes changed for nothing. It's been a good day today, besides my doctor telling i need surgery, bummer....

go ahead and get the free ones, then get aftermarket ones and sell the brand new OEM ones you just got for free

    lucky bastard..
i just paid 200 bucks to get my front rotors resurfaced and new brake pads.. and now the talk about the glove compartment rattling has caught up to me and now to add to it, when my headlights are on and the car is off, i get a VERY LOUD buzzing from the relay box. Bringing it to the dealer tomarrow.

They tried to fix the glove box in mine, just to make it worse...I think the reason is the door weighs like frikin 50lbs, lol......

Nice Josh, I go in Friday for my oil change. I need new brakes too. Anyway, I'll still buy the group buy ones. What is the exact day the Group buy ends? Don't want to wait to long and let the date past.

With that glovebox, there is a metal plate under the pocket (on the front).. I removed mine and it is just a flimsy piece of crap now..

Recalls.. I cant go back to the dealer..lol.. well I dont want to unless something is seriously wrong.. then I'll return the engine to stock..I went by there a few weeks ago and the salesman asked me if I wanted to trade in my car for a new Galant.. duh.. it IS a Galant!

So how does one go about getting this info to the dealer? I had to get my turn signal switch replaced and it was darn near 300 bucks! I swore I had seen a recall somewhere about that but when I asked them about it they said that they couldnt find anything. Told me everything else about my car though, including the recalls I didnt know about....
    Dammit

Free brakes? really? Mines are down to 15% , and the dealer wants $175 to replace the front ones...

So is it a National Recall for all 8G's?

    Brakes Sucks

I changed my rotor and changed the brakes 2 times and I am still having the same problems. I decided that my next purchase will be the AEM Rotors and Brake pads.

Well I went to the dealership today. I did not get the brakes. First, you have to have the V6, I have the GTZ, so that was ok. The second requirement is that you have to still be under the warranty (3 years and 36,000 miles), well I got 50,000. Thought I'd let everyone know.
