Clutch Power Lag and Delayed Response from the Engine

Has anyone experienced shifting into first gear and stepping into the gas but power seems to be lacking or lagging? Besides the clutch disk being worn out causing the delayed release of the gears could there be other problems?

Thanks. I brought the car to the shop and had the transmission pulled down. I saw that the clutch disk was already eating through the pressure plate. The release bearing was also shot and full of soot. Promblem solved.
