    F4A51 Automatic Transmission Hazard

I've searched the site for addditional information however, search came back with nothing. Has anyone experienced issue with defective wave/cushion spring? If so, was it repair done at Mitsubishi dealership or service station.

Thanks for the replies. Is there an approximate milage that this part has been going bad or is it just at any given time? I inquired about this at dealership and the service manager was clulelss. I asked if he could pull a part number for the "one piece" wave/cushion spring and he couldn't even do that. I was interested in replacing while vehicle was being serviced. Time to maybe locate another Mitsubishi shop.

Wow I've never head of this. Another reason to get a 5-speed i guess lol.

I expected the Rocky Mountains to be a little rockier than this.

i know this thread is old, but im still going 209,045 miles on my v6 transmission, however the motor has been replaced at 200k. there arent really alot of transmissions that are compatible with the torque converter...

I blew up the first one at 45k the second one at 53k and then threw it all away because automatics are a rubbish that is a totally faulted system that at best is still actively destroying itself being used in the most delicate of conditions. Automatic transmissions are garbage, and of this pile of garbage the F4A51 is the rancid soiled diaper of the bunch.

Hope that clears it up for everyone, lol.
