Replacing stock interior lights with LEDs?

    Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone's ever replaced their interior lights with LEDs. If so, what kind did you use and where did you get them? Also, how did you do it? I managed to pull out the assembly and take a peek but wasn't able to do much.

    Thanks

yes. as a group, members have replaced every single bulb on the car w/ LED's (or HID for the headlights and fogs) including the HVAC, mirror/fog switches, stock radio, vanity, and dome lights. search this board and you will find all the info u need.

I've done all interior light, excepts the AC display. Blue smd led's in all the interior, and white in the dome lights.

I bought them all on ebay. The hardest ones to find was the ones for the AC buttons and display. Did'nt use the ones for the display cause I got 2 Rings of light then.

I was wondering if anyone knows how to replace the stock map/reading lights on a 9g. I have tried to pry the plastic lens off, but to no avail. I also tried prying the plasting assembly around the entire area of the map/reading lights and there is so much resistence it feels like something is going to snap. Any/all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

wicket380, are those led bars under your front seats wired into your car or are they plugged into a 12V?

Front just pull the whole assembly. The rear remove the lenses with a tiny flat head or pick.

Yea, ive done the rear and that was no problem. Whenever I try to pry the entire assembly with a flat head, there is so much resistance It feels like something is going to snap...is that normal?

they are hard wired into the door circuit,so they come on whenever the doors are opens,or unlocked etc...i have them under the dash in the foot-wells and on the top of the rear window, like in the above photo of the front windscreen.

For future reference for anyone with a 9g wanting to replace map/reading lights with LED's. You definitely have to pry the entire assembly down from the front using a flat head (I used two, one on each side to apply even pressure). There will be a lot of resistence, there are 2 tabs in the front right/left that secure a metal bracket on each side, they simply pop out once pulled down far enough. That was as far as I went, since I was able to pull/replace the bulbs after I lowered the front assembly portion.
