Going to try to buy this Benz today

If everything looks good on it mechanically I will bring it home today. I test drove it yesterday and it drives really nice. Now a couple of my buddies are going to look it over to see if they see anything of concern.

It would be either a E320 or E430. There weren't any E350s for the W210 chassis.

    Looks like, I'm considering a W210 E55 :D

Nice benz, but please make sure you check out that transmission and make sure that it is up to par, and in good running condition. I had a 98, and the tranny went bad in only 90k miles.

Its a 1997 E320, and to make a long story short, I decided to not purchase. Joshua I got a feeling something was wrong with the transmission during the second test drive. The other day when I drove it, it drove nice. Zero squeaks, noises, or anything else. Today's test drive was a bit different. I had to wait for traffic to clear before I could pull out of the lot. When I saw a break in traffic I stepped on the gas. The car felt really sluggish even though the engine was revving. Then the car jerked and took off. Almost like it was out of gear for a second. I did a u turn and parked it back on the lot and told the guy no thanks.

I drove many Mercedes, in older models (like the one you said), thats very normal. You floor the gas pedal, then it takes 3-5 seconds (car moves slowly) until the car takes off fast. Every old mercedes that I drove was like that.

I wasn't flooring it at all. I was just lightly stepping on the gas, but the car wouldn't move. It acted like it was in neutral or park, The out of nowhere it took off. I did not get a good feeling from it.

That is a deal breaker, I have noticed that MBs from the 90's era have a very vague gearbox. They look nice, but seem cheaply built. Although I am hoping to inherit my Aunt's SL500, even though that wont happen she knows I am the only one besides my brother in the family that would appreciate it:)
