Ahh, I've got many a discount with someone's "commercial account." I tried Advanced a while back for those plugs, they weren't right, the only place I get 'em from with no hassle is the stealership. Any special thoughts on the IAC, I think I remember reading not to get fluid in some ports on the bottom or something.

They're the same part number as mine... So i dunno why that is.

Just take it off, and wipe it with a cloth. You can spray TB cleaner (you need it, trust me. brake cleaner SUCKS at this) in the ports on the bottom and everything with the IAC out. Let everything dry before putting it back on.

Maybe the gap was off or they could have got dropped at one point when you got the spark plugs at advanced auto.

yeah it has to be one of those two things because they were both the same exact thing.Did you tell him to use a little anti-seize on the spark plug threads so that they dont seize in the head?

Yep, so I went out this morning to change my plugs, do my oil, and change out a busted HID. The plugs all came out easy. However, the #2 plug (the one throwing the CEL code) was really loose and easy. I didn't change my wires, because my spark plug tube seals are starting to leak, so this week I'll change the wires, tube seals and valve cover seal, along with cleaning the TB for good measure.

Now here's where it gets interesting.

A few years ago, my #3 Spark plug didn't get tightened all the way, so on my way home it popped out, put a dent in my hood, and took all the threads with it. Dumbass move on my part. I had a shop cut some new threads and put a threaded sleeve in there, and boom, she was good to go, that was in 2008.

So today, I put my new #3 in, and it doesn't thread in for shit. I'm like fuck!! So after I calm down, I take a look at my old #3 and compare it to another old one and see this:

The number #3 is on the right. Yes, the sleeve is on the old spark plug, and won't come off for shit! so I have three new spark plugs, and one old as fuck one with 30K+ miles on it. However, my idle is back to smooth and the increasingly louder tick is gone as well (thought it was the oil, but it quieted out before I changed the oil this morning)!! So this was a productive weekend for sure.

My question is, are these kinds of spark plug sleeves common, or should i call the shop tomorrow and see if they have more info? Thanks for reading TGC!

Thanks, I have some research to do then, I didn't want to make a drive up to Northeast Baltimore to get some from that shop. Thanks M-Rod!

No problem. any auto parts store that has heli coils should have your spark plug thread repair kit.

They screw into threads in the head then the spark plug threads into the threaded part inside the anti fouler. It is worth a shot if the threads are messed up.
