Like I said I can hit 6800, which is like 300rpm over what the rev limit is. But 7k is insane! Must be some kinda fluke on the 94 model.

Mine is 94 and i can go past redline, just a little bit, maybe up to 6800 or so.
Hey IllestGalant do you have aftermarket gauge overlays (indiglos' or white face gauges). If you do...those things are totally inaccurate. Also I have noticed that the tach itself is off a little bit.

If any of you guys have SAFC look at the RPM reading and compare it to the rreading you see on your tach, above 1500 rpm the tach is off a little bit. The max difference i've seen was 200RPM.

Your tach signal line in the first place is a lil off compared to the ecu's rpm input wich is the crank. When the ecu sees the revlimit at the crank, your dash tach is reading around 6800...I bet you if I plug my datalogger in and run to 6800rpm...the ecu's rpm output will be only 6550 thats the rev limit isnt it?

exactly and the only way to change the rev-limit os to go with either a new ecu (eclipse, thus rewiring the whole car is possible) or getting the ECU reprogrammed.
My friends LS VTEC intergra redlines at 8200 which is almost 2K over the redline on the tach, plus he's running a type R ecu.
So we can do the same to our cars, just got to upgrade the valve springs and maybe valves themselves. That will allow us to rev much higher than stock.
You can't relly blow the motor when shifting at redlive or past it. I have seen guys in japan shift way past the redline. But they do have the right equipement that i have mentioned above. If you don't do the proper mods what's going to happens is this:
You rev to let's say 7K, one of the valve-springs sticks, thus leaving the valve 100% open. The piston goes up, and BAM the valve will go right through the piston. This is a very extreme case. Usually you get away with just a bent valve, whixh is still not a lot of fun.
Once again with stiffer valve springs and tuned ECU or cars are capable of reving much higher, thus producing more power.

Pavel, what about the tranny..would the stock tranny be able to handle the higher revs?

Uh rev limit is only 6500 or so...if you couldnt hit that then you had some serious issues. And after a new tranny your still running the same ecm, and still have the same rev limit. Illest doesnt have "no limit" he just has a slightly higher about 6700 or so at the crank.

When I did my gauges I set my tach needle to read what my scanner says...but it only reads that up until like 3500 rpm then its always like a 100-300 off...But i'm soon gonna hook my tach line up to the crank line so when I do that the gauge will always show the crank speed.
