We did a lot that day. The car should run in no time. Mechanical all it needs is to drop the 5 speed that is almost 45% done. Overall progress about 35% in one day. It was not a bad day a little cold but for 4 members to overhaul 2 G's in one day "8hr period” it was pretty good.

ima be there around 9:30ish, I will work on the interior as you guys pull the other engine (im being lazy lol)

  14. #74
So we got to work today on the g and after a few Hiccups pulling the enginew/auto tranny attached we ran into a few BIG AS FARTS the car had for us.

Removed the shit condition V6 w/tranny attached

    First set of Farts----

As you can see its frozen like a Cow at a meat lovers convention

Look now i have a huge paper weight blocking my good engine/tranny

    Second set of FARTS------

    whats missing

how about this one anything seem off

so with those two FARTS on the table I took a break and assembled the intermediate shaft and pulled the good axle from my 02

while i was in there i pulled my fron D2 Dampers

Meanwhile the guys discover that my Rack/Pinion boots on the 00 were Torn, so we had to pull the Rack/Pinion out,,,,OH FOR FUCK SAKES:------

Ps if you pull your Rack/Pinion your gonna have to remove the fire wall boot to see this peice. Its pressure closed by a bolt but after years of that it doesnt spread back open so your gonna have to use a wedge and open ir back up to get the spindle out
    Clamp:

    Spindle:

    Rack/Pinion Removed

OOOOOOO look i have a rare Valve cover for all my hard work

Also attached Manual Intermediate shaft to engine. Megan Headers clear just fine so side note: MEGAN HEADERS fit with one Modification needed. You will HAVE to bore out the outer bolt holes one size bigger to clear the bolts smootly that is all.

LOOK someones in the engine bay.....wooopieeee.......blech....

NO clue why i ordered these

will attempt to get more done tomorrow

    AFTER

Installed the Rack/Pinion will post a tut too

    Quick primed the shield

Then some paint and clear. Just a quick spray to make look decent

    Installed with rack/pinion

Plated off my EGR return Port

Painted and installed starter. Moddified Auto starter plate to fit manual tranny

Motormount inserts installed, then mounts reinstalled

WD40 and a Vise grip are my friends

Test color for the mount. i think ill make them all this color

Clutch Master and Clutch pedal installed

Engine and tranny back in car.
FUCK IT WAS DARK AND COLD THIS SUCKED DOING SOLO
Would have been easier if it was hot wouldnt have been distracted by my nuts freezing and falling off.....................

Congrats on the work so far, but I have to ask just one question. Why pull the engine without dropping a 6G74 or 75 in? Would have saved a lot of work in the future if you ever go that route.

Didnt pull the engine for tranny. I took my engine from my 02 8G and dropped it into an 00 8G with manual swap. 02 has frame damage but only 85k miles; 00 had 215k mile so i used 00 for the frame. also 00 doesnt throw code when swapped. when im done only original thing left in 00 frame will be the ECU
