Replace the whole thing do not let a shop try to FIX the old one.
Thank god you were in your driveway and not on the highway.
Check the rest of your suspension for any dmg. It takes a lot to break a control arm in such a way. Ceck you other side as well.

Prices for Parts, check your year/month
    Lower control arm, galant, 2.4l, right, to 1/2/01 99-01 $141.66 $107.32
    Includes Ball Joint.
    Lower control arm, galant, 2.4l, right, from 1/3/01 01-03 $133.33 $101.01
    Includes Ball Joint.

make sure you have it flat bed towed and dont move it unless you absolutly have to without that control arm your suspension isnt aligned properly and its all compressing on itself. the control arm also helps keep your shock/strut from moving foward back left right without it you can bend them trying to roll it around.

Yeah the control arm is bolted into two places on the unibody and to the knuckle. It's an easy fix, the ball joint stuck to the knuckle might give you a hard time though.

if i were you, to be safe i would take off the bumpers so it doesn't mess up the paint. and maybe put like a carpet under your muffler so it doesn't scratch it up
