my 02 galant has a popping sound in drive or reverse

my 2002 galant has a popping sound in drive or reverse mostly when the engine is cold and its on the driver side any idea's what that could be

Pop your hood and put the car in drive and reverse while holding the brake. If the motor moves more then normal. Then its a motor mount.

Or get up under the car and look at your cv axles. Look for a broken boot.

Does it click when you turn at all?
