    Its electric.
So you get to take the power steering pump off the rotating assembly. Less belts, less parasitic loss, cleaner engine bay, more room to work, quicker service procedure.
Its basically all the win of having a manual steering rack without having to give a battle cry to parallel park.

Also, I imagine there will be a direct benefit to gas mileage without the engine constantly pumping hydraulic fluid.

also, i would have left the trunk carpet in and the rear bench, but removed the rear folding seat back. The bench weighs all of a 2lbs. but the seat back probably weighs close to 30 with all the steel in it.

Well, got the currect motor running a bit better, feels peppy with the balance shaft gone. Idles a little rough because I went from 10.6:1 to 10.1:1 cr but pulls harder from 4.5K

Update: Been over a month, and this engine runs excellent. Looking forward for the spring for some changes to the car.

Keep up updated man. Today was almost 60 degrees and it made me want to take the galant out for a spin. Even at 60* my max perf summer tires don't provide a lot of fun.
Can't wait to see what 2012 brings for your GS!

Well, I remove 90% of the AC system. The only things are left is the ECU for the AC and core. As far as weight reduction goes: No radio & CD player, dash & front speakers, trunk carpet, and cruise control system including the ECU. Next will be the seats(front and rear), remove spoiler, relocate battery to trunk, and hood.

Need to ditch those seatbelts. thats at least 6 lbs with the cam lock reels and all.
Also, the stock GS seats are heavy. You need to track down some evo recaros.
