i would replace the timing belt and water pump and do a tune up,do oil changes every 3,000 miles and you should be good to go.the recommended interval to change the timing belt is every 60,000 miles.

My name is Paul and I recently purchased a 99 Galant 2.4l
Its a beast, I love it. It has high miles so I am on here to
check what should be replaced first to keep it running good.

Welcome to TGC!
Check all belts, replace timing belt if it has not been replaced already, replace oil and water pumps, and if it runs right then you should be fine.
