Ray it varies state to state, the shortest time frame I have heard of is 6 months from the date of accident, the longest I have heard is 5 years. That rule is set by the state's insurance commisioner, not the insurance company.

Went out and got FOUR estimates today, including one from a Mitsubishi dealership.

    Dealer: (1) is at $1,043.97

    Shop: (2) is at $951.20

    Shop: (3) is at $920.26

    Shop: (4) is at $744.92

At all four places the hourly rates and parts are about the same costs. The only difference is that SHOP 4 has it in the estimate of less hours for each task (Paint/Labor) Any ideas on why it would be hundreds cheaper if parts are about the same cost?

did they pull the bumper off?

  5. #45
I bet you they just looked at it from the outside and said,'' Hmmmmm,800 bucks buddy."

Two of the four pulled the bumper away from the body (it is split from where it connects to the quarter panels) and saw the energy absorber was minimally damaged and that a vent had a small crack. The dealer body shop said theres no way there is frame damage

The lady who hit me is writing me a check for $1,500 so it will cover it and leave some for whatever intents and purposes.

Some people just don't know their jobs... In all my years working on wrecked cars, I've seen frame damage from 25 MPH impacts. Don't be surprised if after they get it in to fix it, you get a call and they say, we found more damage and will cost you more. Now you have to pay out of pocket. Just trying to help dude, you do what you want.

here is a picture of some damage to the right side under the bumper cover. the energy absorber is broken, the metal bent in a little which cracked the vent.
