    rpms

    i have a 1994 mitsubishi galant gs and the rpm needle keeps flickering.do you think it could be the alternator or battery?the car is cranking pretty slow.i just did the plugs and wires,pcv valve.any suggestions of what it might be would be would be appreciated.thanks.

    its a minor electrical surge I think. Mine does it too....its the rpm needle's electric signal. Mine does the dance as well... I think its pretty common and nothing to really worry about. I have been living with it for years and the car is fine. Sometimes it dances sometimes it doesnt! LOL

    yeah i wasnt sure why it does that i thought it was because it needed a tune up but i did that and it still dances.adjusting the idle srew wont fix it will it?i was told my idle was a little high.

    Idle should be right around 800rpm, how many RPM's is it bouncing around?

    well, for me anyway, its not actually the idle thats fluctuating....its just the needle. Idle is fine

    well when i first start it the rpms are around probably 1800 and when it is warmed up around like 1200.i was told by a tgc member it is high and i could adjust it to around 800 when it is warmed up.

    yeah the needle does bounce around.

    yea just adjust that screw on the throttle body to lower it. you cant miss it, yours may even still be under the stock cap. its on top towards the front of the car.

    do you know what way to turn it to lower it?it is the screw next to the tps sensor right?

    Turn to the right to lower it, left to raise it. Worse case adjust the throttle cable on back of the intake manifold.

    thanks man.it is the screw next to the tps sensor.

    thanks everyone.i adjusted the idle screw and it idles pretty steady at 900 warmed up.the needle still dances every once and a while,but i guess it is common for these cars.

    thanks man.i adjusted the screw like you said and it idles at 900 now when warm.
